Michael Grimes

May 9, 1956 – February 28, 2018


Originally from Woodstock, Georgia, Michael was the youngest child of the late Hubert and Sarah Grimes.  He has lived in Big Canoe, Georgia with his wife, Deborah Gail Deboard Grimes, since 1997.

Michael was retired from National Library Bindery.  In retirement, he continued to work out of his home, practicing the craft of repairing and re-binding antique books, Bibles and other special requests from clients across the country.

Mike loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking and biking, not only in north Georgia, but also in National Parks all across the United States. He and Debbie were most fond of the time they spent in the mountains and canyons of Utah.

Michael was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Debbie Grimes, daughter Hannah Howell, and three grandchildren, Hunter, Gracie and Lawson Howell. He is also survived by two sisters, Brenda Atherton and Phyllis Nussman. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth and Marvin.

A memorial service and celebration of Mike’s life was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at Trinity Church in Marble Hill (2685 Steve Tate Road, Marble Hill, GA) followed by a reception with family and friends.

Jo Ann Brownlee

July 18, 1936 – February 28, 2018


Jo Ann Brownlee, 81, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at The Oaks in Fairmount.  

Survivors include her  daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Adam Senter; daughter, Kay Lawrence and Don Brady; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Ray Luckie, Mary Alice and Doug Rasberry; grandchildren, Eric Breier and fiance Liz Lounsbury; Nicole and Andrew Bryan and Beau Senter; great-grandchildren, Emma Breier, Charlie Breier, Magnolia Bryan, Elias Bryan and Peter Bryan.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.  

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Pickens Animal Rescue - PO Box 45; Jasper, GA  30143 or

The family of Ronnie Stanfield would like to thank everyone for the love and prayers that have been extended to us in our devastating loss of Ronnie.

Grace Weaver

October 5, 1930 – March 4, 2018


Grace Mullinax Weaver, 87, of Jasper, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Northside Hospital Cherokee.  

Grace was born October 5, 1930 to Edgar and Edna Mullinax in Pickens County.  She attended Oglethorpe Elementary School and graduated from Tate High School.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Weaver.

Grace is survived by her son and daughter--in-law, Ronnie and Joyce Weaver of Jasper; grandchildren, Rhonda Henson, Richie Weaver and Jody Weaver; sister, Betty Champion of Jasper; brother, John Mullinax of Jasper; four great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.  

Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Rev. Edwin Weaver and Rev. Randy Weaver officiating.  The interment followed in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in the Clayton Community.

Arrangements are entrusted to the staff of Roper Funeral Home & Crematory in Jasper.
